All You Need to Know About Eyelash Extensions
I have been wearing eyelash extensions from LeFace Lash Boutique for the past two years. I’ll have you know that I love them. They’re awesome. However, my experience before this may have not been the best. I share some of my concerns below. I have experience with many different salons and I am here to answer all of your concerns and questions about lash extensions.
What are Lash Extensions?
There are a few variations of eyelash extensions that you can get. There are of course ones that you can buy from your local convenient store which can be applied prior to your special night out and then removed at the end of the night. The type of extension we are referring to are the semi-permanent eyelash extensions that need to be applied one by one at a local salon near you.
There are many different types of lash extensions that you can choose from. Depending on your choice, they all have different price ranges. The higher the quality, the more expensive your extensions will be. They are often used so that women do not have to use mascara on a day to day basis. It gives you a fuller look that you could never achieve without any makeup.
Which lash extension is the best?
This all depends on your budget. Mink lash extensions typically are the most expensive but also feel the most natural. If you have the spare money, I highly recommend getting mink ones.
Do they ruin in your natural lashes?
One of the most common concerns about eyelash extensions is if they are safe they will damage your real lashes. The quick answer is that if you don’t do your research and simply go to the cheapest place near you, then be prepared that you may damage your real lashes. Always make sure that your makeup artist is well trained and has experience applying lash extensions. If done incorrectly, the glue that is used can damage your natural lashes. On the contrary, if you go to a reputable salon that knows what they are doing, you have no reason to worry about any damage done to your real lashes.
Do they hurt?
Not at all. You can barely feel that they are there. In fact, I will go far enough to say that it feels lighter on your eyes than having any makeup on. On the contrary, you should not have any eye problems or infections if you plan on getting eyelash extensions. Proper salons will make you sign a waiver that assures them you do not have any eye problems. If you do, you should NOT be getting any lash extensions as you could damage your eye.
How long do they last?
Lash extensions are made to last roughly 2-3 months. There are different services around which allow you to maintain your look by “filling” your lash set. Overtime, the semi-permanent lashes begin to fall out. If you wish to save money, you can stop in to the salon which applied them to get them filled out again. This will allow you to spend a fraction of the cost rather then spending another $300-$400 for a full set to be applied after they all fall out.
Can I apply Mascara on my Extensions?
You can, but not every single brand or type that is available. Oil-based or waterproof mascara will damage the glue that holds your extensions on your natural lashes. You may have read online that coconut oil can be used to remove your lash extensions, and that’s why you need to find a mascara that is oil free if you choose to use mascara. To be honest, you do not need any mascara on your lash extensions. They look great as they are, so it is best if you enjoy the look without having to apply any makeup on your eyes.
