Putting Fake Tans To The Test

Fake tans just keep getting better and better, but we all want one that dries quickly, doesn’t smell like a granny’s stale biscuit tin, goes on without streaking and at the end of it all gives a natural looking colour.

Which is why This Morning put self tanners to the test today. We tested four salon tanning systems and four daily tanning moisturisers to find out which ones were worth splashing out on.

Our salon tans included:

Smells Like...Victory

Last night the beauty industry descended upon the Dorchester for the annual fragrance industry awards, the Fifi’s. In New York this is often a star studded affair as the likes of Nicole Kidman and Elizabeth Hurley jostle to give out awards for the best male and female fragrance of the past year. Back in the UK we appear to have a little more trouble attracting the A List names and, in the past, have had two child actors from Harry Potter, Jade Goody and the ex member of Blue whose name you can never remember desperately trying to pronounce names like Givenchy and Guerlain.

Sixty Seconds To A Flawless Face

Regular readers will know that I swear by mineral make-up – a good one gives soft focus skin in under a minute - so I was really excited to meet the founder of my fave brand Susan Posnick when she came to London last week. Susan, a Texas based make-up artist, created her products when she suffered from skin cancer and wanted a make-up that covered the skin and a few flaws, but also gave a high SPF. She worked really hard to find a non ashy, non chalky, non gritty mineral powder that wasn’t messy to apply. And so Colorflo was born.

Look Younger Without Botox or Surgery

I am constantly asked for make-up advice for older women and so, in honour of Ruth, Beverly, Verity and Tricia who wrote for help, and anyone over 40 who wants to look younger without resorting to Botox and Restylane, I want to tell you about a brilliant new book by Bobbi Brown called Living Beauty.

Which Waterproof Make-Up Works?

I can guarantee that the minute sun shines This Morning will call upon me to come up with a way to test waterproof make-up. Yesterday that entailed twelve women in various states of undress from bikinis to mini macs to figure hugging t-shirts, a fireman, four outside showers and the popera group G4 (really, no kidding).

We put to the test four waterproof mascaras under outside showers for twenty seconds and then got the girls to really rub their eyes to check the lasting power.

Pucci, Pucci Cool

Think of Pucci and think of the Italian Riviera, glorious places like Portofino, sleek, sexy yachts, endlessly sunny days and super cool women in fabulous prints. Now think of Guerlain and your mind conjures up images of super chic Paris and the inimitable Guerlinade based scents. Put the two together and you have the best of both worlds – quite literally as the two style icons have joined forces to create the must have make-up kit for spring.

The Ultimate Designer Sale Is Here

Anyone who has ever written or called in to This Morning asking for details of my clothes, take note – the fabulous Billion Dollar Babes designer sale is coming to London.

It’s in Victoria and the dates are Friday the 13th of April from midday for members, and Saturday 8am to 6pm for non members.

Do Sixty Second Nail Polishes Really Work?

There is nothing like a mani for a quick fix, feel good beauty treatment, but when time is tight can a single coat sixty second quick dry nail polish really look good and dry in a minute? Well I put four to the test at This Morning with a box of feathers, cotton wool, glitter, sand and fake snow.

My four testers had a minute to paint one hand and then just sixty seconds to allow their nails to dry before having to scrabble around in a clear box of detritus for some nail polish remover pads.

So which one came out tops?
