December 2006

Thank You

Thank you to everyone for making beautybynadine such a success in 2006. Have a happy holiday wherever you are and we will be back on January the 3rd.

Perfect Party Preening

At least twice a year I write a how to guide to getting the perfect party hair for Hello! I give step by steps on how to achieve red carpet hair at home, but to be honest you have to be ambidextrous and patient to do your own up-do’s, have a winning way with waves, or even primp a perfect ponytail.

Lashing Out At The Party Season

Inspired by an item that I did on This Morning and a post by veteran beauty blogger Jackie Danicki, I want to talk lashes. With so many big party nights coming up, you need no better excuse to lash out this party season. But with every thing from false eyelashes to eyelash extensions on offer, where do you start?

Sun, Sand and Celebrity Hairspray

Eagle eyed readers will have noticed that I commented recently that I was in Miami on a Procter and Gamble Beauty Conference. As well as the A list beauty editors along came three very A list celebrity hairdressers – Nicky Clarke who tends to more celebrity manes than most, Ben Cooke the man who created Victoria’s Pob and every David Beckham cute cut, and James Brown the man who artfully dishevels Kate Moss’s hair. The three of them sat down and let the journalists grill them, but the best gossip came over a sake drenched dinner in the South Beach Nobu.

Half Price OPI Party Nails

You know how I love dark nails, but find them just too high maintenance to do at home – well now OPI have put together the ultimate kit, including the iconic Mischa Barton fave Lincoln park After Dark polish for half price.

Gwen Stefani Signs Perfume Deal

What do Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Victoria Beckham and Kylie have in common – ok a lot of things including wealth, power, good looks and fame. Which in the world of beauty leads to just one thing; a perfume deal. And so Gwen Stefani, the Queen of Cool has signed with Coty (who also produce all of the perfumes for all of the stars listed here) to produce a LAMB scent.

Get A Happy Song For Free

Clinique and their best selling Happy fragrance have joined forces with R&B songstress and Jay Z ingénue Rihanna, to commission her to sing for you for free. To celebrate the holidays Rihanna has recorded Ne Yo’s Just be Happy and you can download it, and a fabulous dancing orange bubble man, at the Clinique site.

Seeing Red

All this talk of red lipstick has made me want to share some insider beauty editor secrets with you. Namely how utterly surreal some beauty launches are – most especially the ones in Paris.

I once went to the launch of a perfume called Madness where the hosts wore kilts and red contact lenses, and all kept hissing ‘Eet is madness I tell you’ at me in a French accent.
